Research is showing a connection between the growth of mobile devices and “window shopping” done online. Over half of Americans own smartphones or iPads and online shopping is drastically increasing with these ownership numbers. BIGresearch found that of all U.S. adults, 40.7% say they regularly shop online and Mobile device owners like to shop even more. Some experts even believe that this mobile shopping growth is a threat to mega retailing in China and calling it the “Taobao Effect” and that what is said online (“reviews”) about products affect nearly 1/3 of products sales in Shanghai accounting for $34 Billion USD.

Mobile is certainly the new internet and data on how mobile is shifting commerce is just starting to surface and the government wants in.
