Clothing retailer The Limited is offering its Facebook Fans 30% discounts off its Infinity scarf, allowing users of the social-networking site to purchase the item directly through the status updates in their feed pages, The Wall Street Journal‘s Digits reported.
Only Facebook users who signed up as fans of The Limited will receive the status update, or friends can share the offer with other friends, according to Digits.
Dan Shust, director of emerging media at marketing agency Resource Interactive, told Digits:
The vast majority of the interaction and the communication happens along the wall. A lot of tabs and secondary experiences on Facebook aren’t getting as much interaction as brands hope. (That) has made us look at the wall for a place to complete the transaction.
