Soulja Boy Joins The Streamy Awards Musical Lineup

By Megan O'Neill

The Streamy Awards, the live-streamed award show dedicated to honoring excellence in online video, just keeps on getting bigger and bigger.  In mid-January The Streamys announced that actor/comedian Chris Hardwick would be hosting, last week they announced that Vanilla Ice would be performing, and now rapper Soulja Boy and rock band Boyce Avenue have joined the mix of musical acts.

According to a press release, other collaborative musical performances will include “Chester See, DeStorm, Epic Rap Battles and Mike Tompkins, as well as Shontelle, Kurt Hugu Schneider, Sam Tsui, Savannah Outen and Lisa Lavie.  Announced celebrities slated to present at the 3rd Annual Streamy Awards include George Takei, iJustine, Lance Bass, Shane Dawson, Larry King, Shira Lazar, Vanessa Marano, MysteryGuitarMan, Ty Pennington, Pauley Perette, Charo, Jackson Rathbone, Shay Carl, Eden Sher, the cast of SourceFed, and Kirsten Vangsness.”

I’m sorry, but Charo? Vanilla Ice? George Takei?  Lance Bass?  This is going to be ridiculous (and by ridiculous I mean ridiculously awesome)!  And hold on to your horses, because more celebrity presenters are going to be announced in the coming week.

In addition to adding Soulja Boy to the Streamys musical lineup, earlier this week The Streamys announced the finalists for their Audience Choice Awards for Personality of the Year and Series of the Year.  Personality of the Year finalists include Ashley Clements, Bernie Su, Brad Bell, Chester See, Grace Helbig, Mary Kate Wiles, Megan & Liz, Ryan Higa, SMOSH and The Fine Brothers.  Series of the Year finalists include Bro Team Pill, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, Husbands, Kids React, MyMusic, Red Vs Blue, SourceFed, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, The Young Turks, and Vito Bueno.  Fans can vote for their favorite show and personality online at
