Sophos: Facebook Users Too Carefree with Personal Information
Security firm Sophos said its Australian team conducted a study to determine how likely Facebook users were to volunteer personal information, and CNET reported that the results were a little disconcerting.
According to CNET, 41% and 46% of Facebook users contacted blindly accepted friend requests from two respective fake users created by Sophos, and the security firm was then able to gain access to up to 89% of those users’ personal data, including date of birth, e-mail addresses, schools and cities or towns of residence.
