Mobile loyalty rewards program SessionM has announced its partnership with Scanbuy to bring SessionM’s “mPOINTS” rewards currency to the popular iOS and Android scanning app ScanLife. On its own, the ScanLife app allows users to scan QR codes and UPC numbers on products in the real world to learn more information online, but via this partnership, ScanLife users will actually be rewarded for doing so.
Via this partnership, users receive mPOINTS (“mobile points”) when they scan codes and UPCs in stores and restaurants, in magazine print ads, on physical products and more. These points can be redeemed for charitable donations, gifts cards to stores like iTunes, Amazon and Starbucks, or physical merchandise.
“Loyalty is a natural extension of how consumers are using the ScanLife app to engage with the brands they love in their everyday life,” said Mike Wehrs, president and CEO of Scanbuy. “With 25 percent of ScanLife iOS users already engaging, there have already been millions of mPOINTS collected since its initial introduction.”
This ScanLife partnership will also support SessionM’s check-in feature, mPLACES, giving users even more reward points for checking into specific locations.
ScanLife joins a variety of other mobile apps that utilize the SessionM reward system. For instance, SessionM partnered with Punchcard in February to give users rewards for uploading receipts from real-world purchases.
“SessionM and the ScanLife app are a perfect fit as consumers increasingly look to engage with brands via their mobile devices, wherever they are, in ways that are personally relevant and meaningful to them,” added Lars Albright, CEO and co-founder, SessionM. “We look forward to working with ScanLife to help build these connections.”
