Mahjongg Dimensions developer Arkadium has announced the release of its newest game on iOS and Android, Release the Ninja. The action platformer contains dozens of levels, each asking players to collect gems and defeat enemies using basic swipe controls.
Instead of virtual joysticks, Release the Ninja’s side-scrolling gameplay can be controlled by simply swiping in the direction the ninja needs to move. Players will know where to go based on gems scattered throughout the stage, and the ninja will move automatically after a swipe has been made, until he runs into an obstacle.
Players jump or drop between platforms using up or down swipes, respectively, and they can collect power-ups, like chainsaws and swords, which also appear randomly in their path. The ninja will automatically defeat enemies when one of these is equipped.
Release the Ninja offers 60 stages at launch, which become increasingly complicated over time. For instance, some levels require diagonal swipes, causing the ninja to bounce between two vertical walls to reach higher locations.
Players earn coins as they play, which can be used to purchase power-ups, including additional time in stages, gem magnets, shields and more. These coins can also be purchased with real money to speed up in-game progression. Gamers earn up to three stars on each stage, and can replay levels to increase their high score, or to find missed collectibles or enemies.
