Netflix users in Canada are about to get a whole lot more content, thanks to a deal that the online streaming service has struck with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution. The deal will bring Canadian Netflixers a number of popular shows including the first two seasons of The Vampire Diaries, all previous seasons of Pretty Little Liars and, starting on January 1, J.J. Abrams’ Fringe.
Etan Vlessing of The Hollywood Reporter reports, “All three series air on Bell Media channels, which has a separate TV supply deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution for first-run series, and has no syndication rights to the series.”
In addition to the series, a number of WB-owned movies will also head to Netflix Canada, including Horrible Bosses, The Dark Knight Rises and The Hangover II.
Ted Sarandos, chief content officer at Netflix, said, “We are thrilled to be the exclusive online subscription home for The Vampire Diaries, Pretty Little Liars, Fringe and great Warner Bros. Feature films in Canada.”
