With the holiday shopping season fast approaching, and developers looking to capitalize on shiny mobile gift cards and flashy new devices, PlayHaven has released some tips for developers in an effort to help them prepare for the holidays. PlayHaven has offered us an exclusive first look at its holiday infographic, which contains a handy flow chart to measure developer preparedness.
The infographic shows a boost in new players and increased engagement and monetization during the holiday season, triggered by limited time events, and of course, new users simply acquiring fancy new gadgets. During Q4 2012, games on the PlayHaven network averaged 18,400 sessions per game, compared to 12,600 sessions in Q2 2012 and 18,300 in Q1 2013.
The network itself acquired millions of new players during the holiday season last year, eventually climbing to 419 million network users by Q1 2013. That’s a huge boost when compared to the stats from Q2 2012, when the PlayHaven network sat at 224 million users.
The infographic dives into SDKs, push notifications, app testing and user acquisition, with PlayHaven suggesting developers test at least three different versions of the same message within the same audience to see what works best for driving new installs and keeping users engaged. It’s not just the holidays the count, according to PlayHaven, as developers should have a calendar of ad-campaigns worked out from now until the post-holiday season, leading into February.
Of course, PlayHaven has tools related to these suggestions, like its Push Notifications platform which was released in July.
