There are more than 180 tweeting airlines around the world, sending out an average of over 4 tweets per day. And they’re getting quite good at using social media to engage with their customers. While you might experience delays at airport security, you will probably have a smoother experience tweeting with your preferred airline.
Travel 2.0 has created an infographic that shows just how airlines are using Twitter.
On average, each day, each of the 180 airlines on Twitter posts 4.1 tweets. That’s 738 airborne tweets per day. And some are posting way more than others: the infographic shows that @DeltaAssist, the immensely active customer service Twitter desk for Delta Airlines, tweets nearly 64 times per day. It helps that they have a dedicated team responding to complaints, questions and other customer service inquiries 7 days a week, but other airlines, like @KLM are tweeting their hearts out, too, with more than 10 tweets on average per day.
The infographic also shows that @JetBlue, one of the first airlines to sign up for Twitter back in 2007, has over 1.6 million followers – an impressive feat for a high-profile celebrity, let alone an airline.
