Viral Radar: OK Go & The Muppets Take YouTube

By Megan O'Neill

Yesterday OK Go released their latest music video and it is a doozy!  It brings together two of the most viral groups on YouTube—OK Go and The Muppets—so it’s no surprise that the video has already amassed a whopping 400,000 views in a mere 24 hours.

The video features OK Go’s rendition of the Muppet Show Theme Song, from their new album, The Green Album, which was just released yesterday.  It’s like a crazy mash-up of some of OK Go’s past music videos, interspersed with Beeker, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Animal, Fozzie, Gonzo, the Swedish Chef and all your other favorite Muppets, and some super strange interactions between the band and the Muppets, including one amazing scene where the band members are Muppets themselves, being controlled by…Muppets!  I told you it was a doozy!

Both OK Go and The Muppets have been doing well in the viral arena this summer.  It’s been less than a month since OK Go released their awesome interactive HTML5 music video for ‘All Is Not Lost’, and The Muppets have gone viral twice with two trailers for their upcoming movie, The Muppets, set to hit theaters this Thanksgiving.  Together, they are the perfect team!
