New York Times columnist and reporter Nick Bilton is publishing a book about Twitter, and it’s officially available for pre-order from Amazon.
The book, set to debut November 5, promises to be a juicy read, judging by the title alone: “Hatching Twitter: A True Story of Money, Power, Friendship, and Betrayal.”
AllThingsD asked Bilton for the scoop on his book. His response:
“Twitter, in comparison to Facebook, with the involvement of celebrities, and the way the company has ended up changing the world, makes ‘The Social Network’ look like an episode of ‘Days of Our Lives.’ There’s a tremendous amount of drama around the creation of Twitter, but without that drama it wouldn’t be the company it is today.”
But he does give Twitter its due as well, saying,
“Facebook changed the way we communicate, Twitter changed everything.”
Indeed, the Amazon listing for the 304-page book being published by Portfolio, an imprint of Penguin Group, reports,
“Bilton’s exclusive access and exhaustive investigative reporting—drawing on hundreds of sources, documents, and internal e-mails—have enabled him to write an intimate portrait of fame, influence, and power. He also captures the zeitgeist and global influence of Twitter, which has been used to help overthrow governments in the Middle East and disrupt the very fabric of the way people communicate.”
