New Media Index: Confusion Over Scrabble Invades Blogosphere

A misunderstanding over a new game from Mattel called Scrabble Trickster that led readers to believe the toy company was changing the rules of 72-year-old mainstay Scrabble was the most-shared topic in news links from blogs, while the Apple iPad tablet topped the Twitter list, and the most viewed news and politics video on YouTube was a clip of Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) saying he was concerned that the island of Guam might “tip over” due to overpopulation, according to the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism’s New Media Index for the week of April 5-9.

The Scrabble misunderstanding accounted for 23 percent of news links shared via the blogosphere last week, and it was followed by: Virginia Gov.
