Israeli PM Netanyahu Invites Arabs To Start A Dialogue With Him On YouTube

Earlier this year, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu participated in a World View YouTube interview, responding to questions submitted and voted on by the YouTube community. Apparently he liked it, because Netanyahu is opening up the floor for another round of questions, which he will answer on YouTube, and this time he especially wants to hear from people in Arab countries. For Netanyahu’s initial YouTube interview back in March, questions came in from all over the world, with a record-breaking number of questions in regards to population and a record-breaking number of countries sending in questions. Netanyahu discussed everything from the recent outbreak of protests and revolution in the Middle East to Israeli settlements, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the possibility of a third Intifada, Israeli politics, Israel-US relations and more. However, most of the questions came from the United States and Israel, as well as Japan, and Taiwan—not from Arab countries. Netanyahu says, "I value the fact that we have this direct contact [via YouTube], and I can talk to millions of people around the world." Therefore, he is opening up a discussion between himself and the Arab "internet generation", hoping to start an Israeli-Arab dialogue on YouTube. In a video that was uploaded earlier this week in English with Arabic subtitles, Netanyahu says, "I encourage all of you to send your questions, including and most especially viewers from the internet in the Arab countries." He says, "I’d like to hear what you have to say, and I’d like you to hear what I have to say in response. Talk to you soon." The Israeli PM Twitter account also tweeted out a link to the video in both English and Arabic. The submission of questions is working a little bit differently than it did in the previous YouTube interview. This time, participants are invited to send their questions to AskPMNetanyahu@gmail.com. According to the video description, responses will be uploaded soon, though no exact date has been confirmed. I would like to see the IsraeliPM YouTube channel implement Moderator to let YouTubers submit and vote on questions as they do for YouTube World View. It’s a little unfair that we won’t get to actually see the questions that are asked and that the Prime Minister’s office will be able to selectively choose which questions are answered and which are ignored. That being said, it should be interesting to see what kind of questions the Prime Minister ends up answering, as well as what the response is like.
