Microsoft's Danger Purchase Cost $500 Million: Report

As a footnote to Microsoft’s purchase of Danger the other day, Engadget reports that a “solid source” told them that Microsoft paid $500 million for the Sidekick software maker.

It’s been all over the news about how much Microsoft bid for Yahoo—$44.6 billion, with resultant fluctuations depending on each day’s stock price—but until now there hasn’t been any word on what they paid for Danger.

That price also got Engadget’s source speculating that Microsoft may be about to “pull an Xbox” with its cellphone business, fearing that its current approach would relegate it to the business market, the report said.
