Your Looks May Be More Important Than You Think Online [Exclusive Infographic]

Have you ever wondered how your looks play into your social media success (or failure)?  An interesting new infographic from HSN Beauty, shared exclusively with Social Times, reveals that the way you look may be more important than you think on sites like Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube.

The infographic, ‘The Secrets Of Beauty Revealed By The Internet,’ examines the online sphere to learn about how beauty influences us.  Some of the findings may surprise you.

According to HSN Beauty’s findings, beauty subjects dominate YouTube’s how-to and style section and over 69 percent of women have visited health and beauty sites within the past month.  But that’s not all—apparently having physically attractive friends on Facebook make you appear more likeable and friend-worthy and physical attractiveness can affect whether or not a person friends you.

But the really crazy statistics have to do with how recruiters interact with profile pictures.  According to the infographic, 19 percent of the time a recruiter spends on your LinkedIn profile is spent looking at your profile picture, and they may reject you simply because you look too young, too old, bald, overweight or…get this…too beautiful!  Want to ensure that your profile picture is all it can be?  HSN Beauty suggests taking your photo between 11 AM and 1 PM.
