We now have multiple sources for local search, and while most of us have our favorite search engines, wouldn’t it be useful to be able to run the same search across all sources automatically? Localscope is a $1.99 iPhone app that does the same search with Google, Bing, Foursquare, and Twitter.
When you start Localscope you have the option to enter a search term or browse by category. You can elect to have search results display in a list or on a map. In list mode the search results include the distance and direction from your current location. The search sources display at the bottom of the screen, and you change the sources by sliding the different icons underneath the arrow.
Tap the search result to see a detail page that includes links to call the location, a URL search result web page, view the location on a map, set it as your current location, and add the search result to contacts. You also have the ability to share the location via email, Facebook, and Twitter.
