Rhythm and Poos: Litter Genie Hosts Twitter Rap Battle for Charity

If you like cats, gold chains, and cats in gold chains, you’ve come to the right place. Walter and the Lap Cats, the feline stars of a series of YouTube commercials for Litter Genie, are hosting a rap battle on Twitter to benefit the Best Friends Animal Society.

Rhymes are the center of this ad campaign for the waste disposal system created by Playtex. Through February 17th, cat lovers can tweet a rap to @LitterGenieCat on Twitter and get a reply from Litter Genie spokescat Walter, who describes himself as a “four-legged love letter.”  One group has already risen to the Twitter challenge with a little bathroom humor of its own:

Litter Genie will donate $1 to the charity for every tweet (even that one).

The Twitter promotion launches in tandem with the group’s latest YouTube commercial: an alarmingly authentic R&B-style music video called “Me Luvz Mahselfz” in which the cats scratch records as well as litter in order to promote the aforementioned poop receptacle.

If you like the campaign, thank Litter Genie’s advertising agency, JWT New York, a subsidiary of WPP. The video is the work of director Keith Schofield and producer Caviar in Los Angeles.

The other two videos in the series are “I Haz a Pie Row Tek Nik,” a tribute to heavy metal hair bands; and “I Haz a Catnip in Mah Head,” a nod to the psychedelic 1960’s. The songs have racked up more than 1.3 million and 1.1 million views, respectively.

Said Walter of his rise to internet fame, “Yeah, I’m on the YouTubessss. Getting all kinds of viewssss. Cause people can’t smell my poos.”
