Hispanicize Acquires Being Latino Stake; #BeLatino Hashtag Created

By David Cohen

A combination of Hispanic media companies resulted in the creation of a new Twitter hashtag, as #BeLatino was spawned when social media content and blogger marketing platform Hispanicize announced its acquisition of a “significant” stake in Hispanic social media platform and online magazine publisher Being Latino.

The two companies said the #BeLatino hashtag will be used throughout the blogger platforms of Being Latino, Hispanicize, and Latina Mom Bloggers, while existing Hispanicize hashtag #Hispz will be used for Latino and multicultural digital culture, social media, and technology.

Hispanicize provides Latino-focused content via its website, Facebook page, and @Hispanicize Twitter feed.

Being Latino publishes its self-titled online magazine, and its 145 sister Facebook fan pages have collected a total of more than 150,000 fans. It also boasts the @beinglatino Twitter feed and the Being Latino YouTube channel.

Hispanicize CEO Cristy Clavijo-Kish said:

With this stake in Being Latino, combined with our Latina Mom Bloggers network and our national conference Hispanicize 2012, our platform now features 360-degree digital solutions for Latino social media initiatives and allows us to build economies of scale that benefit our growing client roster. We’re extremely honored to have Lance Rios and the Being Latino team join our growing family of companies. Together, our group exemplifies the kind of social media leaders, thinkers, bloggers, and entrepreneurs that will help us continue building market share and driving solutions.

Being Latino CEO Rios, who was also named a partner in Hispanicize, added:

This is a great fit for Being Latino and Hispanicize due to the mutual commitment for building a positive, progressive platform for Latinos to engage online. Through Hispanicize, we will be able to expand our platform’s scope, while also accelerating revenue growth.
