HALLOWEEN: M&M’s Dominates Other Candy Brands in Facebook Mentions

M&Ms650If you want to give out the most popular candy on Facebook and other social networks to trick-or-treaters for Halloween Friday, invest in some M&M’s, as it was the top candy brand among the nine major ones monitored by social marketing and analytics platform Engagor.

From Oct. 1 through 31, Engagor examined a total of 592,200 mentions of the candy brands on Facebook and other social networks, and M&M’s dominated:

  1. M&M’s: 174,900
  2. Skittles: 116,100
  3. Starburst: 83,000
  4. Reese’s: 82,900
  5. Snickers: 58,300
  6. Butterfinger: 24,400
  7. Kit Kat: 23,800
  8. Hershey’s Kisses: 20,900
  9. Twizzlers: 7,800

The top trends from the candy brands monitored by Engagor were:

  1. “Eighth Juicy Wonder” (Starburst): 26,200 mentions
  2. “Starburst FaveReds” (Starburst): 26,200
  3. “M&M’s Crispy” (M&M’s): 24,700

And the top hashtags (http://www.adweek.com/socialtimes/vidpresso-narendra-modi_b135760) were:

  1. #reesesgameday: 18,000 mentions
  2. #teamskittles: 16,800
  3. #skittlesweb: 13,900
