Habitat Boots Intern Over Twitter Hashtags
Was it a sinister marketing ploy, or an overzealous intern? U.K.-based furniture retailer Habitat fired an intern for combining popular Twitter hashtags such as #Iran and #Mousavi and promotional messages such as “Join the database for free to win a £1,000 gift card,” paidContent:UK reported.
Habitat told paidContent:UK, “This was not done by an agency. The hashtags were uploaded without Habitat’s authorization by an overenthusiastic intern who did not fully understand the ramifications of his actions.
