Fitbit Recalls Activity Tracker Due to 'Allergic Contact Dermatitis'
Fitbit’s high-end activity tracking wristband, The Force, appears to be causing skin irritation for a small portion of users – about 1.7%. Users at risk for the irritation can also experience painful infections, if not properly treated. Those who have complaints about the issue have already been offered a full refund, but the company has now decided to stop selling the product and conduct a voluntary recall. In a press announcement by Fitbit’s CEO, the company offered a full apology, citing these laboratory tests results:
- Independent test results have not found any issues with the battery or electrical systems.
