Electronic Arts has announced the launch of Heroes of Dragon Age, bringing the franchise’s famous characters to mobile devices for the first time. The strategy combat game sees players collecting characters from the Dragon Age franchise and sending them into battle against story opponents as well as other players.
Players can collect more than 100 different characters, including both heroes and villains from the franchise, to create their perfect party. Battles progress automatically, allowing players to focus on the stats and strengths of their units, rather than on tapping or swiping on the screen to actually attack.
“We made some very deliberate choices to not go the route of interactivity,” Heroes of Dragon Age Producer Tim Lander told us in October. “Something the Dragon Age fans really love is the aspect of setting up their units. By choosing not to have interactivity, we allow that strategy to be a lot stronger. The strategy is about how you setup your party, not how quickly you can tap your screen.”
The game’s character roster includes fan favorites like Anders and Morrigan, as well as more generic characters including golems and dragons. Characters can be combined to power-up those gamers would like to keep, and new characters can be purchased instantly to add more variety to a party.
