Comedy Central Picks Up Zach Galifianakis’ ‘Between Two Ferns’ For Half-Hour Special

Zach Galifianakis’ ‘Between Two Ferns,’ one of the funniest series known to the world of web video (imho), has been picked up by Comedy Central.

On May 6, the latest episode of the show, a half-hour special featuring interviews with Tina Fey, Jon Stewart and Sir Richard Branson, will air on Comedy Central right before the second annual Comedy Awards.  The show’s producer, Scott Aukerman, announced the big news on his podcast, ‘Comedy Bang Bang,’ on Monday.

‘Between Two Ferns’ hit the ground running when the first episode was uploaded to Funny Or Die back in 2008.  Zach Galifianakis’ awkward interview with actor Michael Cera was a huge hit and, in the years since, Galifianakis has hosted everyone from Charlize Theron to Bradley Cooper, Conan O’Brien and Andy Richter, Jimmy Kimmel, Natalie Portman, Steve Carell and, most recently, Will Farrell.

It’s been nearly a year since the last new episode of ‘Between Two Ferns’ hit the web, so it should be exciting to see the show expand from it’s usual 3 to 5 minute format to a full-blown half-hour show.  Are you excited?  We’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
