With all the changes that Twitter has undergone in the past few months, it’s understandable if you’re feeling a little overwhelmed. Here are the three most important recent changes that marketers need to be aware of in order to stay ahead of the curve.
1. An Updated Profile Page
Unless you’ve been living under a rock – or you’ve been off Twitter for the past month – you’ll know about the latest profile page redesign. What you might not know is just how big of a change it was, and how it impacts the way you use Twitter for marketing.
The new profile is designed in part to attract and keep users on your profile page. There’s more to do – like view your photos and videos as a gallery and search through your followers and following. This means you’ll want to make sure your multimedia and followers list are on-topic and up-to-date.
Your new profile also features a more prominent cover photo and larger profile picture, so these should be visually appealing and represent your brand well.
2. Upload And Tag Photo Albums
In what might be a move towards full-fledged photo albums, Twitter has recently enabled users to upload up to four photos to a single tweet, and to tag users in these photo.
When photos are uploaded, they are combined into a collage. And you are able to tag up to 10 people in the photos – without using up valuable @mention space.
This is an important update for marketers, as it could change a brand’s photo strategy. By uploading more than one photo, marketers can tell a broader story, while they interact with other brands and influencers by tagging them.
3. New Direct Response Mobile Ads
Twitter was made for mobile, so it would make sense that new advertising products are targeted to mobile users. The latest is a click-to-call ad that enables marketers to embed a button into a tweet that users can click in order to dial a phone number.
This promotes a direct action, and provides marketers with a way to serve up ads that are targeted, effective and easy to measure. If you’ve got a product, an app, an ebook or anything else to sell directly to the consumer, this is a great ad product to get to know.
