Time sure flies when you’re planting crops. Zynga is celebrating FarmVille’s 5th birthday with events across all three games in the popular farming franchise: FarmVille and FarmVille 2 on Facebook, and FarmVille 2: Country Escape on mobile.
This “Summer of FarmVille” birthday extravaganza starts this month, with events taking place throughout the summer, and will see players meeting new characters on mobile and receiving plenty of free prizes on Facebook.
In the original FarmVille, players will be treated to a variety of discounts on select limited edition items, land expansions, unwither rings, vehicles, statues and more. Each day will see users offered different purchase options or prizes, which may include a boost on all earned mastery points or wither-free crops, as examples. Zynga has created a Facebook event page for users to keep track of all of the current deals.
Meanwhile, wedding bells are about to ring in FarmVille 2 on Facebook. Starting June 26, players will be able to start their very own family with the My Family Farm feature. Similar to marrying your sweetheart in Zynga’s Pioneer Trail, the My Family Farm event will see users’ childhood sweethearts heading out to the farm. They’ll be able to help gamers earn extra water, baby bottles, shears, super feed and other resources. These characters will also have access to “unique new items” that can be used in valuable crafting recipes. Early Access to the feature is now available, but general access will be available on June 26.
Finally, it’s the “Dog Days of Summer” in FarmVille 2: Country Escape on iOS, Android and Amazon Kindle. Later this month, dog Farmhands will be added to the game, like Border Collies and German Shepherds. Users can place doghouses on their farm, and then send these new helpers to special locations like the mine or garden to retrieve “premium goods.”
In addition, mobile players will be able to craft new recipes in a Summer Cook-Off to earn extra in-game prizes, while Zynga itself will share real-world recipes for gamers to create back out in the real world.
