I've been spending the first few days of the New Year watching YouTube videos (as usual) and came across a few great New Year's 2011 fireworks displays from around the world the inspired me to put together a little list of 2011 fireworks displays and celebrations across the globe. I was really moved by the fact that New Year's Eve is celebrated in a similar fashion in places around the globe - with a countdown followed by tons of cheering and fireworks. So I looked around for ten nice firework displays from around the world that you can watch to start your own 2011 off with a big ol' bang! Happy New Year! London Fireworks on New Year's Day 2011 Wow. Wow. Wow. This fireworks display ushering in 2011 in London is absolutely stunning and I'm not the only one who thinks so. With over 1 million views in four days, this is the most popular 2011 New Year's Fireworks video on YouTube. Big Ben chiming definitely makes this one something special, and the soundtrack is pretty great too. Dubai New Year Celebrations..2011 Dubai is known for extravagance (despite it's growing debt) and this year's New Year's festivities were definitely no exception to this rule. Amazing lights and fireworks displays lit up the city, with the centerpiece being the Burj Khalifa - the tallest building in the world! Fireworks displays don't get much bigger than this! Countdown + Taipei 101 Fireworks The fireworks at the Taipei 101 in Taiwan were stunning, consisting of 12 programs with festive themes and a countdown that's great for practicing your counting in Taiwanese! Enjoy! New Zealand welcomes New Year 2011 New Zealand rang in the New Year with a fireworks display in Auckland. It's not quite as impressive as some of these other big cities, but it still looks like a great way to start 2011. 2011 New Year Fireworks - St. Petersburg Russia And check out this great fireworks display in St. Petersburg, Russia. It must have been cold out there, but the view was definitely worth it! New Year 2011 Fireworks at Chiang Mai Thailand The fireworks at Chiang Mai sports stadium in Thailand look to perfect to be real. It's almost like watching a screensaver, right? Bangkok There was also a big countdown and fireworks display in Bangkok to celebrate the dawning of 2011. Check out the CNN coverage in the video below. New Years Eve 2011 at Zojoji Temple (Tokyo) In Tokyo the celebration was a little different, but incredibly beautiful just the same. At the Zojoji Temple, rather than a fireworks display everyone celebrated by releasing balloons with their new year's wishes written inside. I wish I could have experienced this first hand!
