15M Facebook Interactions from 8.5M+ Users on NFL’s Opening Night

NFLFandomMap650The 2014 National Football League season kicked off Thursday night, with the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks routing the visiting Green Bay Packers, 36-16. Facebook said the opening game resulted in nearly 15 million interactions (posts, comments and likes) from more than 8.5 million users.

The social network also shared the map above, which displays the favorite NFL team of each county in the U.S.

According to Facebook, the top five social moments from Thursday night’s game were:

  1. A two-yard touchdown run by John Kuhn gives the Packers a 7-3 lead.
  2. Marshawn Lynch runs it in from nine yards out, giving Seattle a 17-10 lead.
  3. Kickoff.
  4. Lynch scores again, putting the Seahawks up 29-10.
  5. Russell Wilson connects with Ricardo Lockette on a 33-yard touchdown pass, giving Seattle a 10-7 lead.
