Vocus, a provider of software tools for the PR industry, has reported $28.5 million in second quarter revenue, a 20 percent increase year-over-year. Total deferred revenue as of June 30 was $55.9 million, up from $47.3 million as of June 30, 2010.
Net income for Q2 was $4.1 million compared to $3.1 million for Q2 2010. Among the other highlights for the quarter was the launch of the Vocus Small Business Edition in the U.K. and the addition of 601 new annual subscribers. Clients include BBC World News, Darden Restaurants, and Euro RSCG 360.

Last week, Cision reported Q2 revenue of SEK 242 million (about $38.8 million according to today’s exchange rate). Organic growth in the U.S., the company’s biggest market, was two percent, however overall organic growth was at -3 percent. Profitability in Europe also strengthened with a reported 12.8 percent operating margin versus 9.1 percent from the previous quarter and 7.1 percent year over year.
Operating revenue for the first half of the year was SEK 491 million (about $78.6 million).
In a statement, CEO Hans Gieskes touted the strengthening financial situation in Europe and the U.S., but pointed to the first half weakness in Canada “due to its dependence on traditional media monitoring.”
