So much Monday morning quarterbacking to do over commercials good and bad but something that wouldn’t have gotten by the Steelers leaky defense was the amount of car commercials during last night’s telecast.
There were NINETEEN.
That’s right 19 car commercials during last night’s Super Bowl. A broad mix of domestic and international car companies did some smash-mouth ad campaigning during the big game.
This is a very healthy trend for the economy on many levels. Car commercials stimulate various branches of business, and of course they are an indicator that people are looking to buy cars.
From Eminem’s heavy-duty Chrysler ad, to mini-Darth Vader using the force on a VW (one of the faves, embedded for your enjoyment), it was a banner night. And in terms of PR – from new auto-focused practices to crisis – it’s very sweet.
All in all, car commercials can really “drive” business in public relations. I know, I know…put the brakes on the car puns.
