RNC Comm. Director Trevor Francis Stepping Down

Republican National Committee communications director Trevor Francis is leaving the organization, reports the Washington Post. Reporter Chris Cillizza called the move, “an odd mid-cycle departure that suggests some level of turmoil within the GOP’s chief campaign committee.”

Francis previously was Managing Director in the Media Practice at Burson-Marsteller.

RNC Chairman Michael Steele is a bit of a “free agent” when it comes to speaking with the media and it’s been hard for Francis to rein him in.
