The U.S. Farmers & Ranchers Alliance is hosting four town hall meetings in four different cities today to talk to the public about how food is produced and the health impact of the food that members of the alliance grow and raise.
“The Food Dialogues” are taking place in New York, Washington D.C., at the University of California, Davis, and Fair Oaks, IN. If you can’t make it to one of those four locations, you can also participate online here, on Facebook, and on Twitter with the hashtag #FoodD or @USFRA.
According to the town hall website, among the USFRA’s objectives are to increase consumer trust and to maintain farmer and rancher freedom to operate in a responsible manner.
Survey results released today found that 72 percent of consumers (2,417 people nationwide were surveyed) know nothing or little about farming and ranching even though 70 percent said that how food is grown and raised impacts purchasing decisions. Of the 1,002 farmers and ranchers surveyed, 86 percent think people know little or nothing about their work.
Ketchum is helping with the event and the Ketchum Global Research Network(along with Braun Research) helped with the survey.
