Dowie Going to Jail

Douglas Dowie, the former GM of Fleishman-Hillard’s Los Angeles office, has lost his conviction appeal and will be heading to federal prison next month to serve his 3 1/2 year sentence. Dowie had been sentenced in 2007.

He was convicted of overbilling clients, including the Department of Water and Power, between 2000 and 2003. According to the Los Angeles Daily News (Dowie had also been an editor there), he also pushed staff to overbill. The firm paid a $6 million settlement to the city in 2004.
