Can you brag about where you’re from? UniWorld Group and the U.S. Marines Corps have rolled out a new Black History Month marketing campaign for the Marines entitled, “Where I’m From,” which features nine different Marines explaining what they appreciate about their good old hometowns.
This sounds to me like an easy task if you’re from badass Detroit, but what about unassuming Coatesville, PA?
First Lt. Paige Thomas, featured in the web spots, relies on the spirit of the people of Coatesville for her testimony: “When I return home, I get the warmest welcome, every single time,” she says. “People see me as a success story.”
Print ads are running in ESPN The Magazine, American Legacy, and Jet, among others. The Corps has a microsite developed in connection with the campaign, where viewers can click on a photo to learn more about each Marine. Even though we Left Coasters may notice there are only two featured Marines West of the Mississippi, we can (ahem!) look past that.
The multimedia campaign is nicely put together, but its Black History Month link seems weak. Thoughts?
