Would You Like Fries And Coke With That… FarmVille?

Zynga and McDonalds announced the launch of a branded McDonald’s farm in FarmVille recently that rewards users with rewards for interaction. This is a unique and first of its kind social marketing campaign being led by appssavvy, a direct sales and marketing services team that provides brands and agencies a platform for running engaging social advertising campaigns, in partnership with OMD. More after the jump.

FarmVille’s deal with McDonald’s represents the first branded farm deal. It’s a one day event in which players will see the McDonald’s Farm as a ‘Neighbor Farm’, letting players visit it and interact with it in ways such as helping grow its tomato and mustard seed crops.

“Joining forces with FarmVille is an incredible opportunity for us to engage with millions of players in the most popular social game,” said Anja Carroll, Director of Media, McDonald’s USA. “What makes our FarmVille effort unique is that it reinforces important features of the McDonald’s brand while enhancing game play for FarmVille players.”

Players who interact with the Farm receive a virtual McCafe Consumable. This is a functional virtual good that provides players with energy so they can roam their farms at twice their regular speed. Players can also receive a Hot Air Balloon FarmVille Decoration for their personal farm decoration use.

“McDonald’s on FarmVille represents the re-thinking of the delivery and reception of advertising,” said Chris Cunningham, co-founder and CEO of appssavvy. “Today it is about understanding the social activity taking place and only then figuring out a way to join relevantly through value-added marketing, which McDonald’s has done to perfection.”

The branded farm also has other initiatives being showcased such as its 2010 Monopoly Game, McCafe, Sesame Seed Bakery and a Dairy Farm representing its buns and milk products, respectively. This isn’t FarmVille’s first romance with brands, however, as back in April the social game let users grow special peanuts as a type of crop. Then in July, Farmville let players plant organic Cascadian Farm items.

FarmVille is at roughly 61.5 MMAUs with about 17 MDAUs, giving it a nearly 27 percent sticky factor.
