W Hotels Launched an ‘Advergame’ to Celebrate the Opening of the W Bellevue Hotel

Belle the Bear was created to celebrate the opening of the W Bellevue hotel in Bellevue, Wash.

W Hotels Worldwide, part of Marriott International, launched Belle the Bear, a web-based “advergame” celebrating the opening of W Bellevue, the company’s new hotel in Bellevue, Wash.

Developed by Pen&Public, Belle the Bear is a Frogger-style platforming title, challenging players to move left, right and forward to help a bear named Belle progress through multiple environments while avoiding a variety of obstacles and picking up special items. The longer players survive (and the more special items they collect), the higher their score.

Belle the Bear is playable on desktop browsers and the mobile web.

To encourage users to play the game, W Hotels is holding a high-score competition from June 15 through July 15. At the end of the competition, the five highest-scoring players in the U.S. will receive prizes, with the top player winning a free three-night stay in the Extreme WOW Suite at W Bellevue, round-trip airfare for two, a $500 shopping trip to The Bellevue Collection and more.

In a press release, Anthony Ingham, global brand leader at W Hotels Worldwide, commented:

Bellevue is a gamers’ city, so we thought it would be fun to tap into that energy, but with a W twist. Creating Belle the Bear, a throwback game with an innovative edge, is just another example of how we are constantly looking for new ways to engage with future W fans on their own turf. Plus, it’s a fun way to celebrate the opening of W Bellevue.
