Vibes Media Picks Up $15 Million

Vibes_Media_Pirates_Disney_VCAST.jpgMobile marketing firm Vibes Media has raised $15 million in a first-round venture financing, MediaPost reports. The 10-year-old, Chicago-based company has delivered more than 50,000 mobile campaigns in the U.S. for Coca-Cola, Texas Instruments, Intel, Dove, and Verizon V CAST’s Pirates of the Caribbean download (pictured), among other clients. More than 22 million people have participated in Vibes campaigns, generating more than 400 million text messages, the report said.

This area of the advertising business is certainly growing. The article said that worldwide mobile ad spending will grow from $2.7 billion in 2007 to $19.1 billion in 2012, mainly on the strength of text-message campaigns, according to an eMarketer forecast earlier this year. Meanwhile, the U.S. mobile advertising market could hit $6.5 billion by 2012.
