Twitter is testing the addition of view counts next to the timer in videos.

Dorsey Shaw of BuzzFeed discovered the feature, sharing it in a tweet (embedded below), and Twitter confirmed the test in an email to Ariel Bogle of Mashable, saying:

As video consumption continues to increase on Twitter, we are constantly experimenting with ways to provide a rich video experience. View counts provide helpful context on the popularity of a video, and we are exploring this feature to help surface the best content.

Bogle speculated that Twitter may be developing ways to rank and display video content, similar to recent moves Facebook has made with its News Feed algorithm.
