Total Site Renovation for iVillage

iVillageLogo.jpgWomen’s-targeted online destination iVillage announced a total site relaunch, under which categories will launch individually in phases, starting with its Entertainment section, which will launch Wednesday, and followed by Food, Health, Parenting & Pregnancy, Home, Beauty & Style and Astrology.

The new Entertainment site will focus on celebrity news, movies and television shows that women care about most, including what to watch with their kids. iVillage also announced that Serena Kappes from People.com is now on board as the new editor of the Entertainment site, adding that she has nearly two decades of experience in entertainment news reporting.

iVillage said its new site will fully integrate content with social-media features and mobile applications, as well as offering tools such as a meal planner that connects to a woman’s health profile.

iVillage chief content executive Angela Matusik on the new Entertainment site:

Our community uses the latest celebrity news and drama to spark conversations about what really matters to them. Whether that’s about how to talk to your kids about divorce or deciding if the newest action movie is appropriate for the whole family, we’ve created an engaging online experience where the iVillage community has a starring role.

iVillage Networks executive vice president Jodi Kahn on the overall relaunch:

The new site is where the iVillage woman can tell her true story, leaving in all the genuine details. It’s where she shares her life moments, from the day-to-day happenings to the major milestones. This passionate community dialogue is fully integrated with fresh content and new tools at levels never before seen.

And Lauren Zalaznick, president of NBC Universal Women & Lifestyle Entertainment Networks, on the relaunch:

As the first and most established destination for women on the Web, iVillage is the digital centerpiece of our women and lifestyle content strategy. In an age when female consumers are substantially driving the economy and women are managing their lives online, the relaunched site will further cement our position as a leader in this important marketplace.
