Tapjoy and PapayaMobile today announced that they are partnering to launch Social Marketplace that provides users with recommendations on which apps to download. Both companies have released a flurry of announcements recently and this particular news could be great for developers and users alike. More after the jump.

This exclusive partnership utilizes PapayaMobile’s social community and Tapjoy’s in-app marketplace to create a Social Marketplace for Android developers to use. Within PapayaMobile’s social network, players can discover new mobile games  via recommendations delivered in forms of targeted ads. Developers benefit by gaining targeted users.

“Our entire business is built around delivering as much value to consumers as possible, and clearly there’s considerable value in helping them discover new games based on what their friends are playing,” said Mihir Shah, President and CEO of Tapjoy. “PapayaMobile’s social network has the scale and reach, particularly across the U.S. and China, to help make our ads further targeted and more engaging for users.”

In order to implement Social Marketplace, developers need to plugin both PapayaMobile’s Social SDK as well as Tapjoy’s Publisher SDK. This will allow both companies to gather the right data to suggest the right games to players based on factors such as popularity among PapayaMobile friends and other anonymous data.

Tapjoy recently made their App Marketplace available via their official website which lets players earn virtual currency by watching videos, signing up for subscriptions and installing specific apps much like Sometrics’ GameCoins.com has been doing. Tapjoy’s reports over 35MMAUs across its apps as of today.

PapayaMobile recently expanded its offerings to iOS, adding iOS development support to its mobile SDK. This offering includes cross-platform use of its social networking features and the ability for developers to launch their titles on both Android and iOS using one code base. PapayaMobile has also been touting its ‘Gateway to China’ program which was designed to help developers gain a presence in China through localization and distribution deals PapayaMobile has worked out with operators in the Eastern land. PapayaMobile currently has 30M plus registered members and is preparing for the likes of GREE and Mobage as they gain a foothold in the western markets by signing up premium developers.
