Xi-Art’s Take the Cake is growing fast, as thousands of players have raced to try the new match-three game on Facebook. Take the Cake follows a young girl named Julie, as she enters the Magic Forest to find her lost cat. In each level, players are challenged to complete specific goals, like earning a set number of points or clearing pastries of a single color from the board.
Players complete levels by creating matches of three or more like-colored pastries to clear them from the board. When players create matches of four or more pastries, or in special L or T shapes, special boosters are added to the board. These clear small clusters of pastries, helping players complete stages before their limited moves run out.
Levels become more complicated over time, with additional requirements and complicated board layouts, but players can purchase additional moves and other boosters when things get tough.
Players earn up to three stars on each stage, depending on their score, and can replay levels to increase their high scores and earn missed stars. The game is limited via a lives system, and is further monetized via the availability of power-ups, which can be purchased before a level begins. These may clear all pastries of a single variety from the board, among other tools.
Take the Cake currently sits at 265,000 monthly active users (MAU), according to our app tracking platform AppData. That’s up from 68,000 MAU on February 2. The game is available to play for free on Facebook, and is also available on iOS and Android devices.
