The story of Susan Boyle is, in my opinion, one of the most inspirational YouTube stories of all time. Practically overnight she went from being a plain, unemployed, 47-year old woman who had never been kissed to one of the most recognizable singers in the world. This week she has finally released her first official music video, a cover of Lou Reed’s ‘Perfect Day’.
I’m not too proud to admit that I tear up every time I watch Susan Boyle’s surprising performance on Britain’s Got Talent. When she stepped out on that stage in April 2009 everybody thought she was a joke, until she opened her mouth and starting singing. The fact that such an amazing voice could come from such a plain, sort of strange, older woman shocked the world. You’ve probably seen the video already, along with over 52 million others, but you can click here or on the video below to watch it again. Just be sure to have a couple of tissues on hand.
A year and a half after Susan Boyle was discovered on Britain’s Got Talent and became an overnight YouTube superstar she has finally released her first official music video. The video is a cover of Lou Reed’s ‘Perfect Day’ and just like her initial performance it’s beautiful. With this video, Boyle proves that she really can sing anything, from Les Mis to Lou Reed.
