Pixel Hero Games announced the release of Eisenhorn: Xenos on iOS. The game is set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, and it “closely follows” the story of the first book in Dan Abnett‘s Eisenhorn trilogy, Xenos.
In Eisenhorn: Xenos, players become Gregor Eisenhorn, an Inquisitor challenged to protect the Imperium from threats.
Players can use a virtual joystick to move around environments, while buttons can be used to interact with objects like doors and chests. Users can also hack machines and disable traps using a special tool. During battles, users can tap buttons to attack enemies or dodge oncoming attacks.
Players can collect coins as they defeat enemies or open chests in the environment. As players progress, they’ll come across armory locations, where they can spend coins on new weapons and gear for Eisenhorn, or on upgrades for his existing items.
In addition, players will add new characters to Eisenhorn’s team as they progress, with different characters having different effects on the game. For instance, one character may fight alongside Eisenhorn during battles, while another may improve Eisenhorn’s hacking ability. Depending on the character, players may also be able to upgrade their items at the armory.
In a statement, Nader Alikhani, studio head at Pixel Hero Games, commented:
There aren’t a lot of Warhammer games that let you experience the action up close, so it has been our personal challenge to really bring the universe to life from a unique personal perspective—that of the conflicted inquisitor Eisenhorn. There’s a good reason fans are so enamored by Dan Abnett’s work, and we’ve put a lot of effort towards making our rendition of this character and the world he inhabits into something that fans will really recognize and appreciate.
Eisenhorn: Xenos is available to download for $9.99 on the iTunes App Store.
