'Paper' Likes 'Undiscovered', Deletes 'Edgy'

Papermagazine has been covering the indie scene for 27 years. That’s even before indie was mainstream. To this day, they stick with that perspective, seeking out stories and pitches about art, music, fashion, and culture focused on things that are still undiscovered.

Of course, many people interpret the magazine’s indie focus as “edgy” or “alternative.” Wrong move.

“Those words don’t mean anything anymore and they’re just clichés,” executive editor Alexis Swerdlofftells mediabistro in this week’s “How to Pitch for PR” feature.

Paper has this fun, irreverent voice.
