OpenFeint Brings Top iOS Games To Android

OpenFeint recently announced its official launch on Android along with the news that it would be bringing a plethora of hit games like Fruit Ninja as well as their Spotlight app to Google’s mobile OS. This is great for Android that’s in dire need to quality games like the kind found on iOS enabled devices. As the number of Android enabled devices activated daily surpasses the 200,000 mark, OpenFeint will be nicely positioned to expose its gaming platform, with cross platform leaderboards, achievements and friending to million of users. More after the jump.

OpenFeint will be initially launching 20 games for Android including top 10 iOS hits such as Fruit Ninja by Halfbrick Studios and MiniSquadron by Supermono. OpenFeint’s initiative will allow carriers to offer new high quality games on a regular basis to their users. Players will also be able to discover games using the Feint Spotlight app that showcases high quality games using the OpenFeint platform.

OpenFeint currently boasts 37 million mobile players across 3,000 games. This is a stellar accomplishment since OpenFeint launched only 18 months ago. OpenFeint’s success can be attributed to its early launch as well as the continued success of iOS devices. With the addition of Android, players will now be able to play with those using iPhones, leading to true cross-platform gaming.

“Android users deserve great games but haven’t had access to enough of them. That changes today,” said Jason Citron, CEO of Aurora Feint, makers of OpenFeint. “Hundreds of thousands of people activate Android phones every day, and there is a clear need for high quality games in the marketplace. The major wireless carriers are partnering with us to select the best games from iOS – like Fruit Ninja – to bring to Android.”

OpenFeint’s basic features include:

  • Leaderboards
  • Achievements
  • Friending
  • and more.

We recommend everyone check out the Spotlight App to discover the hottest new games and win prizes.
