Free-to-play online game developer Nexon has announced a partnership with Brooklyn-based Turbo Studios to publish Turbo’s first title on mobile devices. Turbo was founded in 2013, and is comprised of developers with experience across the gaming industry, at companies including Nintendo, Riot Games, Microsoft, Sony, Kabam and Zynga.
While details about the game are under wraps, we know it’s expected to launch as a cross-platform mobile title in 2015. Nexon will serve as the exclusive worldwide mobile publisher for the game. With Turbo’s focus on bringing “AAA ambition to mobile game development,” we can expect a core gaming experience for mobile enthusiasts.
“The opportunity to combine our local attitude and creative instincts with the proven expertise, reach and resources of Nexon is tremendous,” said Turbo’s CEO, Yohei Ishii. “Partnering with Nexon lets us retain our focus on our true passion – developing killer core games that people around the world will love. Teaming up with people who understand how to propel our vision globally is invaluable.”
“Turbo shares Nexon’s belief that creating unique, truly fun to play games is the key to player satisfaction and success,” added Owen Mahoney, President and CEO of Nexon. “We are excited by the fresh ideas Turbo brings to game development and thrilled to be partnering with a like-minded studio.”
