New Media Index: On, Wisconsin for Bloggers; Twitter Eats Up Apple

Bloggers shared the most news links about the labor unrest in Wisconsin, while Apple was the most-Tweeted news subject, and the most-watched news and politics video on YouTube was two Australian news anchors sharing an awkward moment, according to the Pew Research Center’s Project for Excellence in Journalism’s New Media Index for the week of Feb. 21-25.

Wisconsin accounted for 25 percent of news links shared by bloggers, and it was followed by: more unrest, this time in Libya, at 12 percent; a BBC report about American scientists who claim that monkeys have the ability to express self-doubt and uncertainty, also at 12 percent; reports that the administration of President Barack Obama would no longer defend the Defense of Marriage Act, at 8 percent; and an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times about the myth of “greedy geezers” who are supposedly bankrupting the nation, at 7 percent.
