Mobile Advertising Nearly Doubles as Digital Ad Market Continues to Grow

Internet advertising revenue was up 14 percent year-over-year in the first half of 2012, according to a new report by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Interactive Advertising Bureau. Online advertising accounted for $17 billion in spending in the first half of the year, the report says. Mobile advertising nearly doubled to $661 million in the second quarter.

Internet advertising revenue was up 14 percent year-over-year in the first half of 2012, according to a new report by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Interactive Advertising Bureau.

Online advertising accounted for $17 billion in spending in the first half of the year, the report says. Mobile advertising nearly doubled to $661 million in the second quarter.

The market continues to grow more concentrated: 73 percent of revenue went to the 10 leading ad-selling companies in the second quarter, up a percentage point from the same period last year.

Video advertising claimed increased market share.
