Microsoft and CNBC announced on Monday that Microsoft will be the exclusive third-party display ad provider for CNBC’s mobile Web site, according to MediaPost, expanding an online deal the two originally signed back in December.
According to the report, the latest ad deal will let marketers run banner or contextual ads on the CNBC mobile site in compliance with Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) standards. The deal also marks the first time Microsoft has signed a mobile ad syndication deal in the United States.
The report said that CNBC’s mobile site draws 1.1 million monthly visitors and has generated 10 million page views in the last month, largely due to its real-time stock quotes and breaking news alerts. The mobile site also hit a record last week, generating four million page views in seven days due to the financial crisis surrounding Wall Street.
