Watch: Justin Timberlake Awkwardly Accepts YouTube Invitation To Marine Corps Ball

Justin Timberlake awkwardly accepts an invitation to attend the Marine Corps Ball with female Marine Kelsey De Santis, saying, "I don't feel backed into a corner at all!"

Last week a Marine by the name of Sgt Scott Moore made headlines when he used YouTube to get a date with Mila Kunis.  He asked the actress to come with him to the Marine Corps ball and she said yes, after Friends With Benefits co-star Justin Timberlake told her, “Do it for your country!”  Little did JT know that he would be called out as well when, days later, a female Marine posted a YouTube video inviting him to be her date for the Marine Corps Ball.  At a Friends With Benefits press conference, Timberlake awkwardly accepted the proposal, saying, “I don’t feel backed into a corner at all!”

Timberlake says, “I’ll tell you what.  I accept.  But not because she shouted out one of my songs, which I do love when they do that…and not because she had all those beefcake military guys behind her to try to intimidate me.”  Rather, he accepts because, he says, “I don’t get asked out ever, so I was very flattered by that.”  The fact that she’s trained in martial arts didn’t hurt either.

Justin’s acceptance has fans the world over both jealous and excited for Kelsey, but honestly I think I would be a little bummed out by his rather unenthused response.  I also feel a little sorry for the guy.  When a fan makes a video for a celebrity on YouTube and that video goes viral, the celebrity is backed into a corner in a way, especially when they are asked about it at a press conference as JT was.  He only had two options–to agree to go with Kelsey to the Marine Corps Ball or to say no and look like a huge jerk.

Check out Corporal Kelsey De Santis’ invitation video below, which has over 600,000 views so far, followed by Justin Timberlake’s acceptance, which was uploaded to YouTube on Friday and started gaining traction over the weekend.  What do you think about his response?  Do you think he’ll actually end up going to the Ball?  Would you?
