Home and garden social network Hometalk today announced the re-launch of its iPhone and iPad app, giving the network’s users a chance to browse for topics ranging from home design to plumbing while on the go.
The Hometalk app was originally released in June, but is being re-released as a new and improved version. The app allows users to share photos or ideas with others, ask professionals for advice, browse instructions for step-by-step DIY projects and even contact local contractors for hire.
Available professionals can use Hometalk to create digital portfolios of their previous jobs, and then share those with potential new clients. They’re also able to offer tips and answer questions from within the app to share their knowledge with the community.
Thanks to Hometalk’s previously released mobile website, the company has seen 30% of its traffic now come from mobile devices.
“Hometalk is a premiere destination for people who want to engage with their homes. Our users are extremely active and want to access this content wherever they are,” said Miriam Illions, Director of Community Development, via a company release. “With the release of the iOS app, Hometalk makes it even easier to find inspiration and share ideas. The app is especially helpful for contractors who are out on the field so they can lend help and give tips right from their pocket.”
Hometalk joins other home improvement applications on iOS, including Lowe’s Creative Ideas Magazine, which experienced moderate success last year.
Hometalk is now available for free on iPhone and iPad. You can track its progress on AppData, our tracking service for mobile and social apps and developers.
